“[…] that song revolves around and is based on some of his life. He studied classics at an Ivy League school and so the reference to Joseph Campbell, that’s what we took the video from. We wanted it to be an antihero’s journey. All 17 points of Campbell’s hero journey… We wanted to make them super menial tasks with an incredibly small reward for each task. It symbolizes what the song is about which is nature versus nurture.”

The pair met in Beachwood Canyon and spent three years perfecting their sound. It led to the release of their successful debut EP, 1/2. That was back in July 2020 and the follow-up 2/2 came a year later in September 2021.

Malcolm McRae: Marriage to Anya Taylor-Joy
Lucky for us, McRae’s and Taylor-Joy’s romance is as heartwarming as it is public. I believe they first met in 2021, and here’s the kicker; only two days after, Malcolm wrote a song inspired by the enchanting actress.
The song was appropriately titled Really Want to See You Again – which Malcolm shared a snippet of on his Instagram in March 2022. Anya would first appear on McRae’s Instagram, however, in July 2021, with them holding hands and him declaring he was “besotted”.
Interesting fact: both of them have the same birthday! While they are two years apart, each is an Aries born on April 16th. I can’t imagine either of them forgetting the other’s birthday ever!
